ISO 9001 is the international standard for quality management systems. It sets out how an organisation should plan, control and improve its processes, so that its products and services consistently meet customer and regulatory requirements.

Certification is granted by an independent body after an audit and is maintained through regular surveillance audits. For a recycler, ISO 9001 covers the inspection of incoming waste, process control during washing and extrusion, batch testing of recycled granules against the technical data sheet, the handling of complaints and continual improvement. This matters because recycled material is naturally more variable than virgin material, and buyers need the same quality from batch to batch. Lucro is certified to ISO 9001, together with ISO 14001 for environmental management and ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety.
