rPP (Recycled Polypropylene)

rPP is recycled polypropylene. It is made from used polypropylene products such as woven sacks, bulk bags, containers, caps, crates, furniture and automotive parts, which carry resin code 5.

Polypropylene is light, stiff and heat resistant, and it is one of the most widely used plastics, so there is strong demand for a recycled alternative. The waste is sorted, ground, washed, extruded and often modified by compounding to reach a target melt flow index and impact strength. Main uses are raffia tape and woven sacks, injection moulded goods and automotive components. Lucro produces rPP raffia grades from post-consumer sacks, and automotive grades of two kinds: PCR grades from household polypropylene and ELV grades from end-of-life vehicles.
