SEDEX, the Supplier Ethical Data Exchange, is a global membership organisation and online platform through which companies share information on labour standards, health and safety, environment and business ethics in their supply chains.
Suppliers complete a self-assessment and host a SMETA audit, the SEDEX Members Ethical Trade Audit, carried out by an independent auditor. The results are uploaded to the platform, where multiple customers can view them, which avoids duplicate audits. For a recycler, SEDEX membership is especially relevant, because the waste supply chain involves many informal workers, and buyers want assurance on wages, working hours, child labour and safety. Lucro is a SEDEX member, alongside its management-system certifications such as ISO 14001 and its material certifications GRS, RCS and RecyClass.
