GRS (Global Recycled Standard)

The Global Recycled Standard, or GRS, is an international, voluntary standard owned by Textile Exchange. It verifies the recycled content of a product and tracks it through the supply chain with a certified chain of custody.

GRS goes beyond content. A certified site must also meet social criteria on working conditions, environmental criteria on water, energy, emissions and waste, and restrictions on hazardous chemicals. Products need at least 20% recycled material to be certified, and at least 50% to carry the GRS label. Each site in the chain is audited by an independent certification body and trades material with transaction certificates. GRS is widely requested for recycled polymers and packaging as well as textiles. Lucro holds GRS certification, along with the RCS.
