Recycled content is the proportion of a product or pack, by weight, that is made from recycled material. A film with 30% recycled content contains 30% recyclate and 70% virgin polymer.
What counts matters as much as the number. Standards distinguish post-consumer from post-industrial material, and most targets refer to post-consumer content. In India, the Plastic Waste Management Rules require brand owners to use a minimum share of recycled plastic in their packaging, with targets that started in 2025-26 and rise each year. Claims are verified through chain-of-custody certification such as RecyClass, GRS and RCS. Lucro supplies both recycled granules and finished packaging with certified recycled content.
