ISO 14001 is the international standard for environmental management systems. It sets out how an organisation should identify its environmental impacts, comply with legal requirements, set objectives and improve its performance over time.
Certification is granted by an independent body after an audit and is renewed through regular surveillance audits. For a recycler, ISO 14001 covers issues such as water use and effluent from washing, energy consumption, air emissions and the handling of process residues. It is usually held together with ISO 9001 for quality management and ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety. Lucro is certified to all three, and also holds product-related certifications such as RecyClass, GRS and RCS.
