rHDPE is recycled high density polyethylene. It is made from used HDPE products such as lubricant and detergent bottles, shampoo bottles, jerry cans, caps and crates, which carry resin code 2.
HDPE is stiff, strong and chemically resistant, and it keeps these properties well through mechanical recycling, which makes rHDPE one of the most valuable recycled plastics. Waste is sorted by colour, ground, washed, extruded and pelletized into grades for blow moulding, injection moulding, pipe and film. Typical uses are non-food bottles and cans, crates, pallets, pipes and automotive parts. Natural and white grades command the highest prices, because they can be coloured freely. Lucro produces PCR rHDPE granules from post-consumer rigid packaging, each grade with a technical data sheet.
