Flexible packaging is packaging made from thin, pliable materials that change shape when filled or handled. It includes bags, pouches, sachets, liners, shrink and stretch films and wraps, made mostly from polyethylene and polypropylene film.
Flexibles use very little material to protect a product, which keeps weight and transport emissions low. They are also harder to recycle than rigid packs: they are light, easily soiled and, in the case of multilayer plastic, combine several materials. Single-polymer films are the recyclable route. Lucro recycles post-consumer flexible plastic into rLDPE and makes flexible packaging with recycled content, including shrink wraps, stretch wraps and poly bags.
