Stretch wrap, or stretch film, is a thin, highly elastic plastic film that is stretched around a load and clings to itself, holding the items together through its own tension. It is made mainly from LLDPE.
Its main use is pallet wrapping: stabilising boxes and sacks for storage and transport, by hand or with a wrapping machine. Unlike shrink wrap, it needs no heat. Stretch film is used in huge volumes across warehouses and logistics, and it is removed in one place, clean and as a single polymer, so it is an excellent material for reverse logistics and recycling into rLDPE. Film made with recycled content must still deliver stretch, puncture resistance and cling. Lucro manufactures stretch wrap with post-consumer recycled content, in hand and machine grades.
